Chapter 213
Ella was stunned, trying to wrap her head around the fact that Viper had a woman taking care of him.
‘Did that person misunderstand something?‘
Ella felt a bit annoyed, like she’d been unfairly scolded.
Or maybe it was something else entirely–an uncomfortable feeling weighing on her chest.
In Jaden’s room, someone asked, “Hey, have you seen Mr. Watson’s phone? Where did it go?”
“Oh, I think I saw it fall. Let me find it,” Miranda said, hurrying to look around. In reality, she was just covering up as she deleted the call record behind Hank.
Jaden’s condition was serious. He’d ended up with acute gastroenteritis after drinking, and it was a close call–if they’d found him any later, it could have been deadly.
His health was slipping fast; he seemed to be just barely getting by.
In his early thirties, he looked like he’d lived a full lifetime and ready to leave anytime.
Miranda, a doctor herself, knew that his injuries could be treated, but if he wasn’t willing to take care of himself, even the best medical care wouldn’t make a difference.
“Hank, why would Mr. Watson drink? With his health as it is, drinking is basically a death wish,” Miranda said with a concerned sigh.
Hank frowned, clearly troubled.
e had a feeling this might be related to Ella.
Miranda, being an outsider, didn’t know much about their history. Jaden hardly mentioned Ella, and Miranda thought their connection would fade after the divorce. But Jaden seemed to still be hung up on her after three years.
“Just focus on treating him,” Hank said firmly.
Miranda, clearly anxious, replied, “Hank, I’m a doctor. I want to help Mr. Watson. If you keep this from me, it could end up hurting him more.”
Her urgency came from both a place of professional concern and personal curiosity. She wanted to understand what troubling Jaden was.
“Dr. Sanders, just stick to your job,” Hank responded curtly.

Chapter 213
Miranda wasn’t satisfied with what Hank said.
She recalled the phone call and remembered that Jaden’s a primary number that hadn’t changed in years, but she’d just found out he had another number.
The spare number had only one call record, and it wasn’t saved under a name.
When Miranda picked up the phone, she heard a girl’s voice calling Jaden “Mr. Griffin.” It made her wonder about their relationship.
Meanwhile, Hank stayed by Jaden’s side until he woke up. “Sir, are you alright?” he asked with
concern.
Jaden nodded silently.
“If seeing Ms. Willow is too painful, you should stop. She’s moved on, and you’re the only one stuck in the past, Mr. Watson,” Hank said.
“I understand,” Jaden replied calmly.
Hank sighed, about to leave when his phone rang.
He turned back and said, “Sir, Miss Yolanda is here and wants to see you.”
Jaden turned his back, saying, “I can’t see anyone right now.”
Hank’s heart ached seeing Jaden like this. He went to the door to speak with Yolanda.
“Where’s my brother?” she asked, clearly anxious.
“He’s busy and can’t see visitors,” Hank said.
“Busy, busy, busy. That’s all I ever hear. I’m his sister! Doesn’t he want to see me? Is he dead or something? Why hasn’t he seen me in three years?” Yolanda was furious.
She had come countless times, only to be turned away each time, and she was growing increasingly worried about Jaden’s health.
“Mr. Watson doesn’t want to see anyone right now. Please don’t make things harder for me. He has his reasons for not wanting to see you,” Hank said.
“That’s ridiculous!” Yolanda snapped back, frustrated.
Every month, Jaden would transfer money to her account. But other than that, there was nothing- just a series of numbers on the card.
Yolanda kept coming back empty–handed, growing more dejected and anxious each time. The fear gnawed at her, and she couldn’t hold back her tears.

Chapter 213
Feeling helpless, she decided to call Ella.
“What’s going on?” Ella asked when she picked up.
“I… I’m so worried about my brother. I’m afraid something might happen to him. Since he divorced you, he hasn’t seen anyone–not even me, his own sister.

“It’s been three years and I haven’t been able to talk to him. I just went to his house again, but he still refused to see me. Do you think something might have happened to him?”
“You haven’t seen your brother in years?” Ella was taken aback.
They hadn’t seen each other in three years, which made sense, given the falling out. Ella would have been happy never to hear from him again.
But Yolanda was his sister, and he cared deeply about his family. The fact that they hadn’t seen each other in all this time felt off.
“This isn’t normal?‘ Ella thought.
“I haven’t seen him at all, not even a call,” Yolanda’s voice cracked as she cried harder. “Ella, I don’t know what to do. Can you help me?”
“How do you want me to help?” Ella asked, her heart aching at Yolanda’s sobs.
“Can you ask my brother to see me, just once?”

“He still loves you, Ella. You’re the only one who can do this.”
“Yolanda, we’re divorced. He’s the last person I want to see.”
“Please, Ella. I’ve never asked you for anything before, but I’m begging you now. Help me see him,” Yolanda said, her voice heavy with despair.
Ella bit back her refusal.
She couldn’t ignore what Yolanda had done for her in the past, risking her life and ending up with scars that she still hid.
Even now, she wouldn’t wear a dress in the summer because of the marks on her leg and arm.
“Okay, where are you? I’ll come to you,” Ella finally agreed.
When Ella found Yolanda, she was huddled by the roadside, looking like a lost child, her eyes red from crying.

“Ella!” Yolanda’s voice was thick with emotion, her eyes full of hurt.
“How long have you been waiting?” Ella asked softly.
“Since 11:00,” Yolanda murmured.
Ella’s heart sank as she realized Yolanda had been standing in the scorching sun all that time. She quickly pulled her into the car and drove to Jaden’s place.
When they arrived, Ella rang the doorbell. Hank answered, and his face went pale when he saw her. He rushed to find Jaden.
“Mr. Watson, Ms. Willow brought Miss Yolanda. They’re outside. What should we do?” he asked, clearly uneasy.
“I’m not seeing her,” Jaden replied, his voice rough with emotion.
Hank braced himself and left the room.
“Ms. Willow, why are you here?” he stammered.
“Open the door. I want to see Jaden,” Ella demanded, her tone firm.
“Mr. Watson doesn’t want to see you,” Hank replied nervously.
“He won’t see me?” Ella narrowed her eyes. Jaden was the one in the wrong, so it figured he’d be hiding. But if she wanted to see him, he didn’t get to refuse.
“Open the door. I’m not asking,” she repeated, her tone unyielding.
Ms. Willow, I’m just doing my job. Please don’t put me in a tough spot,” Hank pleaded.
“If you lose your job, come meet me at Willow Group. I’ll match whatever you’re making,” Ella shot back, unfazed.
“Ms. Willow, what are you…?” Hank stuttered, unsure of how to respond.
“I’m only going to ask one more time. Are you opening the door or not?”
“I… I can’t do that,” Hank said, looking like he was about to panic.
Ella didn’t waste any more time. She went to her trunk, pulled out a chainsaw, and hooked it up to a small engine. The chainsaw roared to life with a loud buzz.
Hank backed away, eyes wide. It had been three years since they last met, but Ella was just as tough as he remembered.
