Chapter 13 A Whole Army Of Generals
Sam ignored Liam and continued savoring his wine. In this instant, he seemed like he was the one in control. His demeanor was completely different, and it only took a single glance to make Liam feel like his soul had left his b*dy.
Sam’s aura was one that only a person who had been in a position of power for a long time could emit. There was no faking this intimidating presence that seemed to seep directly from his bones.
Liam took a step back and quivered in fear.
Liam was confused. Was Sam not just some lunatic? Why was he feeling intimidated and oppressed by the look in Sam’s eyes?
The military tanks finally reached the Diazes’ family mansion.
Everyone stared in disbelief as the tanks left behind scrap metal that used to be luxury vehicles.
Those cars had been worth a fortune, especially that last car that belonged to Mr. Johnson! Everything was destroyed in the blink of an eye.
The guests were all stupefied.
“Oh f**k, what’s this all about?”
“Wow, tanks are really on a whole other level, aren’t they? Your car could be worth billions and they’ll just crush it like it’s nothing. I have to say that I like it.”
“Regardless of how powerful they are, the Johnsons wouldn’t dare to confront the military, would they?”
“Judging from all the hoo-hah, it looks like a General’s on the way…”
“That sounds about right. It has to be at least a General, otherwise, they wouldn’t bring out 5 helicopters…”
Lucas was furious when he saw that his favorite car had been reduced to scrap metal.
To him, it was so much more than just a car. It was his pride, his honor, and his dignity. It was a status symbol of the Johnson family.
He was not going to back down even if the unwelcome visitor was a General. The Johnson family was still powerful enough to stand up to a mere General.
All the tanks stopped by the roadside, parked neatly in two straight lines that stretched for over a mile.
There was also a sign that read,
All of a sudden, a black flag appeared on each tank. An army of officials then descended from the tanks, each dressed in a black army uniform with a skull insignia embroidered on their capes.
What stood out the most to the spectators was that each of these officials carried three golden stars on their shoulder straps.
These embellishments probably meant nothing to regular civilians, but as soon as Robert caught sight of them, he immediately fell to his knees, shaking in fear.
Robert’s actions caused confusion amongst the guests, especially for the rest of the Diazes. What was wrong with Robert? Who was he kneeling to?
Liam stared at his grandfather, unable to fathom the situation. What was going on? Had he suddenly gone senile?
What was the big deal about a bunch of uniformed officers from the military? Why was he so scared of them? It was not like the Diazes had been running an illicit business. They had nothing to fear.
Liam went to help Robert up, but he got reprimanded instead. “You bastard! Kneel down!”
The Diazes were stunned. They gaped at Robert. Had he just told them to kneel? Who were they supposed to be kneeling to?
Robert started to panic when he realized that none of the Diazes moved. “I said, kneel down!” he hollered, beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead, “Kneel down if you value your lives!”
In a daze, the Diaz family obediently kneeled down despite not understanding why.
Lucas laughed scornfully. “Oh my, I never knew that the Diazes were such weaklings, Mr. Diaz. What are you so afraid of? As long as I’m around, nothing’s going to happen,” he said contemptuously.
After all, the Johnsons had connections with the Imperial Officers in the Empire. He was not going to kneel to welcome a mere General.
Robert cursed under his breath.
