Chapter 17
On the other side, dozens of luxury cars lined up in front of Avery’s house. This wedding was going to be one of the biggest celebrations in Queenstown.
Mateo stood outside with a boutonniere pinned to the lapel of his wedding tuxedo. His face was shining with confidence.
He had thought about it last night. Since Mr. Johnson did not plan on having Avery anymore, he had to act fast.
Avery was going to belong to him.
Mateo hugged Linda when she came out and smiled happily at her. “It’s so nice to meet you, my dear mother–in–law. Where’s Avery?”
“Look, I’ve brought an entire wedding entourage just for her. Won’t you let her be my wife? I promise that I’ll take great care
of her!”
I’ve got enough riches to make He continued to sweet–talk Linda. “Isn’t this better than being a mistress to someone el sure that Avery is set for the rest of her life. That lunatic’s going to be dead in a couple of days anyway. At that time, Avery will be all mine!”
“Keep dreaming!” Linda looked furious. However, she could not stop herself from feeling rather discouraged at Mateo’s
entourage.
“Don’t think that you and your gang can get away with this, Mateo Williams,” she said in a fury. “I’m going to call the cops.”
“You’re going to call the cops on me? Please, be my guest!” Mateo threw his head back in laughter.
“Pigs will fly if you manage to get the cops here.
“You.. You bastard!”
Linda knew that she was no match for him. It was common knowledge that even the cops were afraid of the Hellish Heaven. Gang. If the cops could not handle the gang, what else could she do?
In her fluster, Linda suddenly thought of Sam and his scrawny silhouette.
She had not realized that she was subconsciously starting to rely on him.
What could he do, though? He was just a crazy idiot. She had to stop putting her hopes on him.
Avery looked out of her balcony window and saw everything that was going on below. She clenched the sleeping pills in her fist tightly.
Despair was evident in her eyes. Her l*ps were dry and chapped. She took another look at the pills in her hand and let out a defeated smile.
“Goodbye, Mom and Dad… I’m sorry for everything. I hope you’ll both continue to live well without me. And… And Sam, I’m sorry for dragging you into this. It’s all my fault!”
Avery lifted the handful of pills to her m*uth. Suddenly, the ground started to shake.
“Another earthquake?
I don’t think so.”
Was that… a tank?

Chapter 17
Avery saw the tank in the distance. It obliterated everything in its path, including the row of cars that Mateo had parked outside her house.
Mateo’s henchmen were dumbfounded. Why had a tank suddenly appeared?
“Why is there a tank?”
“Where did it come from?”
I don’t know, Boss!”
A few moments later, a figure in black descended from the tank, a mask concealing his face.
For a brief second, Mateo thought that he looked familiar. But that man was a lunatic. How could it possibly be him?
The man in black approached them. Mateo felt his heart thumping louder and louder with each step that the officer took. His intuition told him that something bad was going to happen.
“G–Good day, sir. May I know who you are?” Mateo asked, offering a smile.
The man did not even spare him a look. With a silent wave of his hand, two of his subordinates grabbed Mateo and tied him onto a tree a distance away.
There was a heavy tension in the air. Some of Mateo’s henchmen felt their knees weakening.
Mateo started yelling at the man. “What do you think you’re doing? You’ve got no right to manhandle me like this! I’m going to sue you all!”
Sam looked at Mateo indifferently. “I thought I’d let you live for two more days, but I didn’t expect you to have a death wish. Any last words?”
“Who the f**k are you? We don’t even know each other! Why are you doing this to me?”
Mateo was terrified. He had never been on the receiving end of a life–threatening situation like this before.
Sam turned and laughed icily, saying. “I’m that crazy idiot who’s supposed to be executed at the Diamond Royale in three days!
With that, Sam left. Mateo suddenly realized that the than was indeed that person he had thought he was.
But how was this possible?
It had to be a mistake!
Was this all just a nightmare!
No way, there had to be a mistake somewhere.
Mateo kept trying to reassure himself with those thoughts. However, things finally started to make sense the more he thought about it.
This was the man who had not cowered at the sight of 100 three–star generals, even leisurely enjoying his wine at that time; the man who had not needed to kneel in the face of 5 helicopters; the man who had dismissed the generals with a single command…
Things were starting to fall in place. The conclusion had Mateo in great shock. Was he really who Mateo thought he was? Realization suddenly dawned on Mateo. His pupils blew up in horror as he stuttered, “Y–You’re Sam!”

At the same time, Sam waved his hand and the tank fired a shot.
“Boom!”
Screams of terror filled the air. Mateo, alongside the tree, had been blown into smithereens. Only a raging fire was left.
A deadly silence fell over the crowd. Mateo was gone? The most feared and highly–respected leader of the Hellish Heaven Gang had lost his life, just like that?
The rest of Mateo’s henchmen were all downright terrified. None of them dared to make a sound or even look at Sam. Who knew who was the next in line?
Linda and Thomas were also in deep shock. Their brains could not process what had just happened before their eyes.
On the balcony, Avery froze in surprise when she saw the familiar silhouette.
Flinging the pills aside, she rushed towards the door.
Avery ran out as fast as she could. She had to find out who he was!
